Grace Yoon and Qi Alchemy

There is a big difference between a life of luxury and living luxuriously. The former denotes monetary status, and the latter a matter of choice and perspective. I first met Grace Yoon nearly a year ago while I was covering a high-end, pop-up retail concept in South Beach, Florida for Forbes. As I stood poolside with the PR team, the Miami sun upon my face, cool drink in my hand, the blue water reflecting the white, art deco edifice, I thought nothing could make this moment more luxurious. Then Grace walked over looking like she was born for this.

Grace Yoon, Founder of Qi Alchemy

I was not only introduced to Grace Yoon, but also to the product line of her self-made company, Qi Alchemy. Small beads of Korean herbs housed in a narrow glass tube were dropped into a cup of hot water and steeped there for a few minutes. As Grace described the contents of the beads and their powerful, medicinal purpose, she gently stirred, transforming the clear fluid into a delicate brew of such herbs as ginseng, dried Clementine, licorice root, honey, ginger and cinnamon.  The aroma was enticing, and if one can enjoy drinking a cup of hot herbal tea while the radiating Miami sun bakes the top of a head, you know that tea experience must be transformative.

Grace’s story is likewise enthralling. At six years old, Grace suffered from chronic health issues that slipped through the fingers of the American healthcare system. It was eventually her grandmother, a practitioner of Eastern medicine, who utilized ancient remedies and practices to drive away Grace’s health issues and allow her body to heal naturally. In time, Grace wondered why the West never embraced these ancient and effective practices, especially with prevalent health concerns in the US such as stroke, respiratory illness, heart disease and diabetes.

On her website, Grace writes, “Three in five people die due to chronic inflammatory diseases, and 66% of all Americans take at least one prescription medication - all without addressing the root causes. This sparked the genesis of Qi Alchemy and catalyzed my mission to help humanity elevate their health and wellness by introducing the best in-class Korean wellness products and practices to the modern Western world.”

In only one year since meeting Grace Yoon, she has seen her company expand and her message reach the consciousness of those who have begun to take health and wellness more seriously. In that same year, I have seen my friendship deepen and find myself more and more impressed with Grace’s determination and selfless drive to share her wellness message with the rest of the world.

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
